Allied Power Hosts Entrepreneurship Seminar for CityU Tech 300: “What You Need to Know Before Starting Your Own Business”

The journey from zero to one for a startup is full of challenges. How can you be fully prepared before taking the first step? Invited by the City University of Hong Kong’s Tech 300, Allied Power held an entrepreneurship seminar on 27 May under the theme “What You Need to Know Before Starting Your Own Business?” The event attracted many students and entrepreneurs who are either preparing to launch or have just started their ventures, and was met with an enthusiastic response.

The seminar was led by Mr. Issac Cheng, Principal of Allied Power Group. With over ten years of experience in accounting, finance, management consulting, and corporate finance, Mr. Cheng has successfully assisted clients from industries such as Artificial Intelligence, payment gateway, and Software as a Service (SaaS) in completing investor due diligence exercises and obtaining funding from various investors and government authorities. During the seminar, he thoroughly analysed the “Four Tests” that every entrepreneur must face: Market Research, Legal Compliance, Source of Funds, and Cash Flow Management. He emphasised the principle “Fail to Plan, Plan to Fail”, reminding startup teams that they must establish a solid financial and compliance framework from the very beginning in order to better prepare for future fundraising and confidently tackle the various challenges along the entrepreneurial journey.

In the Q&A session, participants asked questions enthusiastically. They gained a more comprehensive understanding of business setup and fundraising preparation, and were prompted to re evaluate their own cash flow forecasting and working capital management – benefiting greatly from the session.

Allied Power stated that it will continue to support the local startup ecosystem, helping entrepreneurs get off to a steady start through professional advisory services, and looks forward to further collaboration with academic institutions to share more practical experience in corporate management and fundraising.
